Fundaxi, The Hydro Bar, and a New Podcast for Nonprofits
March 25, 2025
“It’s been such an exciting and unexpected journey!” – Luis Hernandez, NMDS External Affairs Coordinator
New Mexico Donor Services (NMDS) External Affairs Coordinator Luis Hernandez has partnered with local ABQ Fundaxi chapter The Hydro Bar to host a weekly podcast featuring various businesses and regional nonprofits. With more than 400 people in New Mexico currently on the waiting list for a life changing gift, the joint commitment will amplify the need to support non-profit organizations, like NMDS, who saves lives through organ donation and transplantation by way of forming powerful partnerships with local businesses that believe in giving back.
What is Fundaxi?
Fundaxi is a platform where local businesses coined “Business Angels” pay an annual fee for exclusivity in their category, commit to attending networking events, and agree to donate a percentage of transactions that come from the group to a non-profit of their choice. The list of 400+ nonprofits, including Donate Life New Mexico, are invited to join for free and can attend any of the ten Fundaxi chapter networking sessions across the city.
Under the simple mission “Unite the business community to support the nonprofit community”, the venture seeks to be your go-to podcast for business networking insights and real-world success stories. Through bi-weekly episodes, Luis will do a deep dive into the philanthropic efforts of local businesses and how their stake in supporting non-profit organizations benefits our communities. With over 100,000 people nationally waiting for a life-saving transplantation, the need for support is as important as ever.
A Podcast Idea Takes Shape
After attending Fundaxi networking events for three months, Luis recognized the potential for meaningful connections. The owner of the Hydro Bar encouraged him to start a podcast, and after brainstorming ways Donate Life New Mexico could contribute, they landed on creating the Fundaxi Business & Nonprofit Showcase Podcast.
“It’s about long-term support, networking, and sustainable impact—exactly what we envisioned when launching the group,” Hernandez said.
During the first episode, Luis sat down with Fundaxi Business Coordinator Elizabeth Delgado to introduce Fundaxi and discuss how businesses and non-profits can expand their reach and benefit from the collaboration. The ABQ Hydro Bar chapter will drop an episode after each networking mixer every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.
NMDS hopes that the trio collaboration will position Donate Life New Mexico as a key player in a larger movement of community-driven generosity.
